In today’s fast paced digital age, it can be a chore to keep your personal information safe from those who would misuse it. We want to equip you with these tips from our IT Security Team to thrive as a member of both Liberty HealthShare and the digital world.

  • Never give your personal information out on the phone unless you know who you are talking to. If possible, ask if you can call the company back by looking up the phone nu
mber online from the company website.
  • Never email personal information such as a credit card number, social security number, date of birth, or a combination of name/address/medical information that would allow someone to pose as you and steal your identity. Instead, use secure online portals or call the customer service number.
  • Most organizations will not call and ask you to verify your social security number, credit card number, etc. as the primary means of confirming your identity. Always ask for a secondary method to enter the information such as an online portal or mobile application.
  • If you get an email telling you that you should take action on your account by asking you to click a link and log in, go to the company website directly or follow an already saved bookmark instead of clicking links within that email.
  • Pay attention to vague statements from people contacting you. If they say, “I’m calling from your credit card company/doctor’s office/etc”, ask “Which one?” and try to verify information about your account by asking them when it was created or for the balance on your last statement. These types of attacks are called social engineering, and the people that orchestrate them are masterful.

In summary, personal information is just that, personal. We want to make sure we communicate our ongoing value for you as our members and for your privacy by equipping you with the resources to keep your information safe. Your personal information should never be given to another party except through a secure means, like your ShareBox on the Liberty website (https://member.libertyhealthshare.org/account/login/). More information on our privacy policy can be found at https://libertyhealthshare.org/privacy-policy.
